Live Large at Skybridge

Skybridge has been the talk of the West Loop since 2003. Ask 10 people what they think about the building and you'll likely get 10 very different answers. Since I have a sophisticated and spacious new 3 BR / 2BA listing in the building, I thought I'd do a little research. So, here's what I found.

In 2004, Skybridge was presented with the National Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects. Perkins+Will designed the luxury condominium, which is the first Chicago multi-family residential project to win the award since Lake Point Tower was honored 34 years ago. The American Institute of Architects commented, "An icon for the new urban living in Chicago, Skybridge is the successful marriage of architect and developer – creating something stronger than each could have done on their own. Skybridge is a breakthrough in residential high rise design. With a blend of simple materials, forms combined with elegant proportions, sophisticated colors and the use of skybridges, this tower becomes a delight on the Chicago skyline."

Mr. Johnson also designed the Boeing Headquarters and the International Terminal at O'Hare Airport.

When meeting with the owners of Unit 608 I was struck by the grand scale of the rooms and the practical use of space. When they bought, they wisely installed White Oak floors throughout the entire unit and tastefully upgraded everything including kitchen, baths and walk-in closets. Check out the virtual tour and more pics.
